Cd Timecode Traktor Scratch Pro 2
I want to try out a new set up with a Macbook pro, Traktor NI Audio 10 and Traktor (scratch) pro with the DJM 800 & CDJ MK3's. Before I buy the Traktor NI Audio 10, I'd like to know a few things: 1. When I'm using timecode CD's, am I able to see and save cue points which I set up in traktor?
Hello everyone, this is my first post on these forums. Apologies in advance if I'm breaking any rules I may have clumsily missed on my way hereI've searched for threads on this issue to no avail, so if you happen to know if this issue has (most likely) been brought up, feel free to link me, and I'll head over there. My setup during the issue:-Macbook Pro with 4GB ram, roughly 100GB of free HD space-Audio 10 with brand new rca cables-Traktor Scratch Pro 2.5 + Timecode MK2 CDs-CDJ 900s-Pioneer DJM-900 NexusMy issue:I played at a small music festival last week. I normally play on turntables, with timecode vinyl, and have never had issues setting this up.
My trusty Audio 10 is in great condition, and can calibrate to the timecode vinyl I use with no problem. The set up at this gig was sadly only CDJs, but luckily I brought the timecode cds just in case. Before I went to the gig, I read on the Native Instruments site that the setup for using timecode cds is pretty much the same as with timecode vinyl. The Audio 10 was receiving signal from the CDJs, and I was somewhat able to control the tracks I had loaded up (albeit inconsistently), but Traktor was never able to calibrate the timecode frequency it was receiving. In addition, the signal coming into the mixer (which almost killed my eardrums) was a line-signal distorted timecode frequency, not the tracks I had loaded onto decks A+B. Same exact problem on both CDJs. It showed the grey'd-out scope, and never switched to the comforting yellow and blue shape which would have indicated proper calibration.
After 10 minutes of patiently restarting, double-checking the wiring setup:- CDJ rca outputs to Audio 10 inputs A and B respectively- Audio 10 rca outputs A and B into mixer inputs 1 and 4 (outer-most faders) respectively.Long story short, I wasn't able to troubleshoot the problem and ended up having to frantically copy a bunch of tracks onto two USB thumbs and play straight into the CDJs without Traktor. Not a big deal, but kind of a bummer. If anyone out there has had a similar experience, or can surmise the cause, I'd love to hear advice, horror stories, or anything to assure me that I'm not the only oneThanks in advance. Click to expand. Thanks for the reply makar1.
When you say don't use timecode on the 900s, do you mean to say I can't or I shouldn't?I'm a little familiar with advanced HID, but there was no link cable for the CDJs, didn't have an internet connection at the time to download the audio driver splitter to use each cdj individually with separate USBs.I would like to square away my issue with the timecode before getting into to HID control. If I have timecode cd's and an audio 10, I should be able to use them.
Would you be able to guess as to why I was having issues? Thanks again.
